CJ - WHOOPTY (Aus Remix) - Nasa Nova x Ay Huncho x Sy Dubz

Starting off our list this week is a remix of US artist CJ’s hit single “WHOOPTY”, featuring Nasa Nova, Ay Huncho, and Sy Dubz going back to back over the iconic NY Drill influenced production. Rapper Sy Dubz has the first verse and fills his bars with multiple celebrity name drops and punchlines. Next on beat is Nasa Nova with an interesting flow scheme and delivery coating his setups and punchlines with a unique texture. Ay Huncho comes to his verse by name dropping Big Kash whilst slowly transitioning from singing to rapping almost seamlessly. The group continues to go back to back with their unique styles for the remainder of the song with Nova having the standout verse for this track. Watch the music video from Ay Huncho’s official YouTube channel.

ALL DAE - Ezra James ft. Lawd Lance & Nokz78

Third on our list this week comes from Ezra James with his new track “ALL DAE” featuring Lawd Lance and Nokz78. Ezra James starts off the track with his singing vocals and simple feel good lyrics over the summer sounding guitar chords  and the sliding 808 bassline,  giving the track an overall bounce and head nodding vibe. Lawd Lance’s verse is packed to the brim with well thought out setups and connecting punchlines with an absolutely hilarious bar to end his verse. Nokz jumps on beat after another repeat of the catchy hook from Ezra and adds his insane flow to his complex yet easy to understand setups and punchlines. Nokz and Lance both rap about their city and have bars that reinforce the main phrase from the hook, with all three artists rocking a low pass filter and reverb for their ad-libs. Overall the track has a great overall sound and vibe, which is driven mainly by the guitar chords and dancing hi-hats.

mahi - shadow

updated:

At our now updated second spot comes Perth MC Shadow and his latest single titled “MAHI”, a catchy and banging drill track. Shadow spits over some distorted piano keys while the 808 carries the beats low end, and the hi hats and piercing snare cover the top end of the small mix. With lyrical content spanning from clever punchlines and well placed name drops to strategic wordplay involving drug talk. The track features the heavy use of vocal effects yet is likely to be underappreciated for it’s subtle effects. Examples include layered and distorted vocals, distorted ad-libs, and chopped vocals to add impact on Shadow’s punchlines. The wordplay and level of penmanship of this track makes it a must listen, Shadow’s ability to create strategic yet surprising punchlines doesn’t go unnoticed and makes the track ten times as good.

AnyBody - OTG Renzi

At first place in our list this week goes to Renzi from popular group OTG and his new release “Anybody”. The beat relies on some melodic guitar strings with a supporting vocal melody that adds more depth and interest to the beats production. Renzi chose to sing for his hook giving the track a mellow and low key vibe and sets the tone for the record. With this release Renzi has proven that he can transition between singing and rap vocals flawlessly. The track is filled with vocal effects such as reverb enforcing the songs overall slow yet bouncy vibe, with everything fitting snug in the mix. Renzi’s flow also leaves room for his layered vocal effects and various ad-libs throughout the track, making heavy use of the “Demon Voice” vocal effect to add depth to Renzi's existing vocals and juxtaposing the higher notes he hit whilst singing.
