bando diaries remix

Infamous Australian drill group @ONEFOUR dropped three international collaborations this week with some of the worlds biggest drill rappers in the scene currently. The first track featuring Mt. Druitt group was a remix of Dutchavelli’s “Bando Diaries” which turned out to be a monumental international collaboration also bringing rappers from Albania and India. The track seems to refer to @ONEFOUR’s breakout single “Shanks and Shivs” line “Retaliation is a must…” with Dutch adding the iconic bar to the end of the hook. J-Emz jumps in on the first verse, rapping his signature street influenced bars with some heavy football wordplay and aggressive nature before Dutch comes back in for the hook. France based drill rapper “Kekra” drops a verse in French before hitting some melodies to end off his verse, where Spenny jumps in with a hilarious line “I've been on more trips than Postman Pat”. Adding his iconic voice and multi syllable one liners before going back to back with J-Emz for some “Question and Response” style alternating that in my opinion makes the verse more memorable and iconic as the solo verses didn’t have that heavy hitting aggressive vibe listeners are used to. The addition of the back to back bars took @ONEFOUR’s feature to the next level adding a fresh breath of air to the drill scene as a whole.

aint it different remix

Only a few days later, the group came back with another HUGE collaboration with UK drill artists: Stormzy, Headie One and AJ Tracey, for a remix to the “Ain’t it Different” track recently released. Headie opens the songs with the same verse and hook from the original single. @ONEFOUR J-Emz opens the second verse riding the hi-hats of the beat with a smooth but choppy style dropping more wordplay and creative delivery speaking mostly about the Aus Drill scene and their relationship to the Criminal Justice System. Spenny hops on the tail end of the verse. Bringing his unique flavour to the table once again, Spenny notably states “we started drill rap in aussie, now look what it’s become”. This is notable because it is on a feature with three of the biggest drill/grime artists from the UK.

aussie freaks

@ONEFOUR came back at it again a day later with another feature from across the globe appearing on the third verse of A$AP Ferg’s new song “Aussie Freaks”. The track samples the line from previous collaboration “Say It Again” for the chorus and sets the tone and pace of the track from the get go. The Mt. Druitt boys came through on the third verse coming back to back from the start bringing back that signature aggressive style and bars. With over the top ad-libs backing them up J-Emz and Spenny go bar for bar with each other referring to gang culture and street life. This verse from the two is the shortest out of the tree collaborations although personally my favourite. The verse comes after Ferg’s dope hook and Fivio’s signature NYC Drill sound which leads nicely to J-Emz and Spenny’s faster paced delivery.

These three songs should be a clear reminder of what @ONEFOUR has come to achieve. After these remixes and collaborations is ONEFOUR cemented as Australia’s best drill group? It’s certainly raised the bar higher for all Australian rappers and culture landing features on remixes with absolute UK and NYC drill elite.
