It’s the 13th of June and another instalment of DTW is here! This week features tracks from Lisi, Shadow, SKEM, and KDM On The Track. This week saw a plethora of amazing releases from home grown Australian artist’s, with Lisi’s “Dreams” charting at the the 23rd spot on YouTube Music Trending page. We also see the return of relatively unknown, yet impressive lyrical star SKEM, with his latest release “LVST TIME”.
LISI - DREAMS
Our first place spot this week goes to Goodna rapper LISI and his latest single “Dreams”. Coming off an impressive 2020 that included the release of his LP “Average Man” alongside a plethora of charting singles and collaborations, Lisi is back with his creative bars and wordplay for yet another flawless release. With his usual positive messaging and lyrical content revolving around struggle, the come up, and his eventual rise to success returning with some new flows and cadences adding even more versatility to the QLD rapper’s impressive discography. Taking notes from the rest of AusRap, Lisi has also stepped up his music video production value ten fold, featuring Goodna themed GTA San Andreas loading screens to cryptocurrency stonk meme’s, Lisi’s latest release has it all. SHADOW - TOM AND JERRY
In our second place spot this week, we see SHADOW return to our weekly lists with his latest single “TOM AND JERRY”. The track has a unique lyrical style that takes influences from both trap and drill, with elements of grime sprinkled throughout the bar filled verses. With yet another vocal sample guiding the listener through the track with help from the trap style 808 and drums. SHADOW uses a trap/drill hybrid flow to showcase his captivating bars and impressive wordplay, all whilst keeping his usual lyrical themes in the forefront. SKEM - LVST TIME
One of the greatest and unknown artists to bless our scene, SKEM, is back with another vivid storytelling track “LVST TIME”. Returning with his signature reflective and expressive lyrics, SKEM’s latest track carries the same tones and themes as his previous releases. The beat, produced by “Prod. by Andyr”, relies on the melancholic piano melody and an occasional vocal sample. At the end of the track listeners are also surprised by the secondary melody and alternate drum pattern switching up the track’s feel to end on a lighter note. KDM ON THE TRACK - RUN IT UP
In their first appearance on our weekly DTW lists is Brisbane based group KDM On The Track and their latest single “RUN IT UP”. The high energy banger rides off the back of the hype vocal sample melody and the accompanying drumline that adds even more bounce to the track. KDM’s “Delrio” lays down the catchy hook and sets the tone for the track’s uptempo vibe, which is also reinforced by the fast paced music video from “@ShotByJeda”.
