DROPPED THIS WEEK: JAN 29TH
With another week of great releases in the books, it is time for us to take a closer look and showcase the hottest drops in AusRap from the last 7 days in January 29th’s Dropped This Week article! This week we take a look at the latest releases and lyrics from Manu Crooks, Hooligan Hefs, KZ Da Bandit, and Lil Bau Sav.
Manu Crooks ft. Hooligan Hefs - DON’T Cross The Line
Today’s top spot features Manu Crooks, and his latest single “Don’t Cross The Line” featuring Hooligan Hefs. Manu brings his classic flow and unique sound to his latest track. Backing a laid back sound, the production features electric guitar leads over trap style drum patterns with an 808 kick carrying the tracks low end. Manu’s emotional sounding hook captivates the listener and sets the initial tone for the track, the use of autotune is tasteful and creates a catchy, memorable chorus. The themes of love and betrayal remains present throughout the remainder of the song with both artists touching on the subjects and their personal experiences in relation to the song’s overarching emotional tones and themes.
KZDaBandit - See Me Rollin’
Today’s second place feature sees Kz’s take on an old school west coast gangster rap sound in new single “See Me Rollin”. Returning for his third time on our weekly features with a new sound and flow, adding to the versatility of this young artist's discography. The production features a hard hitting synth and dreamy sounding chords over a bouncy 808 kick. KZ rides this beat perfectly, adding his swag to the old school beat, utilising a steady and consistent flow to talk that talk and let everybody know. KZ’s previous releases have all had an incredibly catchy and mesmerizing hook, however this release takes a more conservative approach whilst remaining lyrically on par with his previous releases.
LilBauSav - Baby
Today’s final track comes from up and coming artist LilBauSav and his latest release “Baby”. A newcomer to our weekly lists, LBS brings the JUICE WRLD sound to the AusRap scene. The simple yet effective production features an electric guitar lead over trap influenced drums and a powerful 808 kick. The track has an emotional punk sound that fans of JUICE WRLD and Lil Peep would definitely enjoy. However, LilBauSav isn’t just copying these artists, he’s twisted and moulded the sound to make it his own. Adding faster flows, a unique sound, and excellent song writing skills to the table. We are excited to hear what this talented young artist has in store for us this year and we look forward to his next release.
