DROPPED THIS WEEK: DEC 18TH
Kapulet - same oneS
Starting off our list this week is Kapulet and his latest track “Same Ones”, the melodic RnDrill summer banger. With storytelling verses and melodic rapping driving the tracks overall sound, the beat features a lead xylophone melody with violins and flute supporting melodies over the kick heavy bassline which creates a feel-good summer vibe for the listener. Kapulet’s lyrical content is further supported with his supporting vocal melodies often filling the otherwise empty production space.
Jamel ft Rops1 - Remedy
In this week's second place spot is “Remedy”, a trap influenced banger from JAMEL and Rops1. The beat’s sampled guitar lead is supported beautifully by the slow trap drums and percussion alongside a booming 808 kick. Jamel brings a melodic rapping delivery to the lil peep sounding production with his unique singing voice that compliments and rides the beat perfectly. Jamel’s storytelling ability is showcased through both his verse and his hook, this is opposed to the classic gutter rap sound and cadences from Rops. The second verse belongs to Rops1 and he delivers his signature grime delivery which beautifully juxtaposes with Jamel’s softer tone and delivery.
big tiny - brothers keeper
We take a break from this weeks list to showcase a song from an up and coming artist, this week, we take a look at Big Tiny’s “Brothers Keeper”. The beat includes an acoustic guitar lead over fast trap drums with vocal supporting melodies adding some extra depth. Big Tiny delivers some heartfelt lyrics whilst effortlessly riding the beats acoustic guitar lead with a choppy cadence. A track about family, their come ups, and the personal experience of their younger life. Following a storytelling type song structure Big Tiny manages to fit in a catchy hook that perfectly link the verses together giving the track a nonstop freestyle sound, have a listen to the track below and support the artist: @BigTiny222
Nerve - Migraines
At this week's top spot goes to Aus rap heavyweight Nerve and his new single “Migraines”. The intense grime banger starts with a slow building intro that features a poetic and interpersonal intro from Nerve gradually building intensity until the beat switch and breakdown, where the second beat fills now empty space. Featuring a hard 808 and gritty sounding synth basslines alongside a distorted lead sample melody while Nerve murders the vocal space with his unique and witty set-ups and punchlines with the classic grime delivery Nerve fans know and love. With deep and interpersonal themes throughout the track it seems the underlying subject of the track is love, this is briefly explored in the outro, and the bridge that leads to the outro beat that sounds like it could’ve come from an unreleased Kanye West “The Life Of Pablo” track. Nerve continues to shine and raise the standard for the scene as a whole, with the new year almost here we are excited to see what Nerve has in store for us next year.
