Arguably Australia’s hottest hip hop act right now, ONEFOUR have been busy carving their path toward international success, the western sydney rap group that started in the cold streets and garage parties in Mt. Druitt have just announced their upcoming album release date and is set for november 13th. ONEFOUR have been busy working coming off the back of three huge international collaborations with the likes of Dutchavelli, A$AP Ferg, Stormzy, Headie One and AJ Tracey. The group even appeared on US rapper A$AP Ferg’s album “Floor Seats II” alongside Hip Hop heavy weights NAS, Lil Wayne and Fivio Foreign. Even with attempts from the NSW Police Force to shut down their careers and silence the group, ONEFOUR have taken their claim in the Australian, and now Global stage.
The announcement came with a short trailer on the groups official Instagram (@ONEFOUR_official) that includes melancholic orchestral strings with short snippets of the various members referring to the album with slow motion visual from a possible music video that is yet to be released and served as the albums promotional cover art. The ending of the short promo clip features a snippet from one of the soon to be released tracks. The video ends with an aggressive sounding verse from JM’s backed by an equally aggressive production.
The album’s name and comments made in interviews have given us a small insight on the potential subject matter and lyrical content that will be released on November 13th. “Against All Odds” sounds like an overall description of their lives and eventual success in the music industry, And there's no doubt they’re successful. With the majority of their music videos being some of the most viewed in the country, alongside their previous huge international collaborations and worldwide praise, it has become clear that Mounty’s Finest are here to stay.
ONEFOUR’s debut album marks an important time in the Australian Rap scene and the respective artist’s careers. November 13th will likely be a day that will be remembered throughout the scene as a monumental shift in the levels that our local scene can offer. Culture aside, the group is also creating a path for the members who remain behind bars that can change the trajectory and direction for the group as a whole.
